Introduction

The community nurse may be the first point of contact when there are problems with a stoma in the patientís home. This unit aims to provide more information on how to change a stoma appliance as well as how to deal with issues such as skin stripping and leaking. Finally, the author considers the effect on body image and how patients might cope emotionally with having a stoma.
