Nurses turn popstars to promote hand hygiene

Nurses from Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have come up with a unique way to publicise hand hygiene by producing a YouTube video set to the popular 1970s pop hit Carwash, a song originally made famous by the band Rolls Royce.

The video features the nurses dancing to the music in various trust sites and singing their own lyrics, emphasising handwashing as a way to guard against infection.

Hand hygiene is crucial in the fight against infection in hospitals and the community, with nurses particularly well placed to promote good hand hygiene techniques and influence culture change in their organisations.
