Nurses asked to apply for programme that supports innovative ideas
Patients First is an initiative that supports nurses, midwives and health visitors to develop nursing practice that advances and improves patient care in any health and social care setting. The Foundation of Nursing Studies (FONs), in partnership with the Burdett Trust for Nursing, are looking for people with innovative ideas who want to engage with patients, staff and carers; who are keen to develop their own leadership/facilitation skills; and who want to influence and develop person-centred practice.
In recent months, nurses have come under tremendous scrutiny. Patients First offers nursing teams a fantastic opportunity to show how nurses are leading innovation and championing care that is person-centred, safe, effective and compassionate. Patients First enables clinically based nurses, midwives and health visitors to lead innovation that will develop nursing and healthcare practice to advance and improve patient care in any health and social care setting across the UK. Since 2009 we have supported almost 60 teams and are now calling for applications to support a further eleven nurse-led teams to start in November 2014.
