September’s seasonal rise in asthma attacks for under 16s
Asthma UK urge parents to have an asthma action plan (http://www.asthma.org.uk/Shop/my-asthma-plans) in place as children return to school. For the past eight years, admissions for asthma attacks among young people have risen in September. This seasonal increase is attributed to colds and viruses, the possible anxiety around returning to school, high levels of environmental allergens in late summer and children not taking their preventer medicine regularly over the summer.
